Welcome and thank you for joining the HERIFORGE Cyprus Hub Forum!
HERIFORGE (cultural heritage and immersive technologies for innovation forge) is a European Union funded initiative that brings together cultural heritage and XR technology communities to advance how we engage with cultural heritage through extended reality (XR). HERIFORGE supports a network of three interconnected place based hubs in Poland, Cyprus, and Türkiye, each fostering research, innovation, and collaboration amongst cultural heritage, technology, and society.
Cultural heritage is increasingly recognised not just as something to preserve, but as a dynamic resource that fosters identity, social inclusion, and sustainable development across Europe. At the same time, immersive technologies like XR open new possibilities for access, experience, reuse, and interpretation of heritage in ways that are interactive, social, and future focused. HERIFORGE tackles technical challenges and fragmented innovation practices by building a robust ecosystem that brings together heritage professionals, XR professionals, researchers and policymakers.
This forum is the Cyprus Hub’s collaborative platform. It is designed to:
• Share project updates, news, events, and outputs relevant to HERIFORGE in Cyprus and beyond
• Foster dialogue among cultural heritage institutions, XR practitioners, researchers and policymakers
• Support participatory consultations, questionnaires, and cocreation activities
• Encourage the exchange of ideas, challenges, and experiences in using immersive technologies for cultural heritage
• Build community, partnerships, and knowledge that strengthen both local innovation and HERIFORGE’s broader ecosystem
